Cablebús
Mexiko
Product design
Two urban cable car systems – Cablebús Línea 1 and 3 – are already operating successfully in Mexico City. Línea 1, which opened in 2021, comprises six stations and covers a distance of 9.2 kilometers. Línea 3, which opened in 2024, also connects six stations over a distance of 5.4 kilometers. Both systems were designed and implemented by Doppelmayr in collaboration with MOJA Design and make a significant contribution to sustainable mobility development in Mexico City. Línea 5, the third system, is currently under construction and, with a total length of 15.2 kilometers, will be the longest urban cable car system in the world. It creates a direct, barrier-free connection between the districts of Álvaro Obregón, Magdalena Contreras, and Benito Juárez, reducing current travel times by around half. This not only improves accessibility but also contributes significantly to improving the quality of life in entire neighborhoods. All systems stand for sustainable, safe, and inclusive mobility and meet the highest technical standards. Key features include stable operation even in challenging weather conditions, barrier-free access, comprehensive safety and surveillance systems, and low environmental impact. The seamless, direct connections relieve road traffic, improve air quality, and bring about long-term positive changes for the connected neighborhoods. Once completed, the network will cover a total of over 50 kilometers and will be able to carry up to 350,000 passengers per day. Línea 5 is scheduled to open in 2028.
