Ropeway
feasibility study
Architecture
In this feasibility study for a medium-sized district town, a ropeway was developed by MOJA Design that connects different districts with three stations and thus optimises traffic flow between the respective railway stations. A feasibility study clarifies whether and under what conditions a project can sensibly be implemented before actual planning begins. Urban ropeways require comparatively little ground space and can overcome obstacles such as roads, railway tracks, or bodies of water.
The ropeway is intended to act not only as a means of public transport but also as a symbol of the continued shared growth of the various parts of the municipality. The concept provides for integrating the middle station into a multi-storey car park. Like the other two stations, it is planned as a mobility hub, i.e. a hub where the ropeway is linked with other transport services. The new development area emerging there can thus have an emission-free public transport connection from the start.
The study examined and designed both the urban planning integration of the stations and various architectural concepts. The central question was how the stations fit into the existing urban fabric. Architectural sketches illustrate the stations as well as the platform area with passengers. Together with the proposed package of measures, the study serves as a basis for decision-making on how to proceed. Another feasibility study on connecting a city to a railway station is presented in the project Urban Ropeway Feasibility Study Kelheim.
