Cable car cabin
Omega V
Product design
A cabin that serves urban station connections just as well as demanding alpine routes was developed by MOJA Design for OMEGA V. From inner-city public transport links to alpine routes, the cabin had to meet a wide range of climatic and operational requirements without losing its design consistency. At the centre of the design was a reduced, technically precise design language that merges the suspension and cabin body into a closed silhouette.
The clear aesthetic is based on a three-dimensional roof construction that fuses suspension and cabin into an impressive whole. The design of the underbody underlines the understated look, with seamlessly integrated drainage and ventilation openings contributing to optimal aerodynamics. The maximised glazing provides an excellent view of the surroundings. Inside, ergonomically shaped individual seats, an integrated USB charging point, an intercom for emergencies, and a tilt window for natural ventilation blend seamlessly into the purist overall design. The material and colour scheme of OMEGA V can also be modularly adapted to the operator's respective brand identity.
Numerous prototypes and factory visits ensured that design ambition and technical feasibility were considered together from the outset. For its clear, timeless design, OMEGA V received the Red Dot Award "Best of the Best". The cabin is now in use worldwide, including at the Floriade Expo 2022 in Almere, the Männlichenbahn in Grindelwald, the Câble C1 in Paris, the Cablebús in Mexico City, and at the Botanic Garden in Oman.
