A comprehensive feasibility study was conducted to examine a sustainable connection between the city of Kelheim and the Saal a.d. Donau train station. The aim was to identify a transport-efficient, climate-friendly, and transferable solution that would reduce motorized private transport and strengthen public transport. Various measures were examined, including the targeted expansion of cycling infrastructure through the construction of a new bicycle and pedestrian bridge, the restructuring of the existing bus network, and a cable car system. Particular attention was paid to the development of realistic operating concepts and the assessment of demand potential using the Bavarian State Transport Model.
