The Federal Garden Show (BUGA) in Mannheim opened on 14 April 2023 and extended across the Luisenpark and the Spinelli Park. To connect the two exhibition grounds optimally, a two-kilometre monocable gondola lift was planned, with Doppelmayr responsible for its construction, operation, and dismantling. The installation used series components designed by MOJA Design: the OMEGA V ropeway cabin and the station roof. The station architecture was adapted to the local conditions by MOJA Design in collaboration with Doppelmayr; the access routes and station surroundings were also designed by MOJA Design.

Both ropeway stations were planned with a minimal footprint and obtained their already low energy demand entirely from renewable sources. A large share of the station components and cabins was also reused from the ropeway that transported visitors at the Floriade in Almere in 2022. In this way, the ropeway embodied the sustainability theme that played a central role at BUGA 23 particularly well.

Thanks to their open design, the use of natural materials, and abundant greenery, the stations blended optimally into their surroundings. The generous area around the stations offered ample space for boarding and alighting visitors, and numerous integrated seating options invited people to linger and enjoy. Inside the cabins, ergonomic seats made of real wood and large panoramic windows provided an optimal view.

Preliminary designs, site plans for the access routes, and stylized views document the planning process from the first idea to implementation.
