Electric Catamaran
Wannsea
Product design, communication design
As part of a partnership with the WannSea team at the Technical University of Berlin, the next generation of a sustainable catamaran cockpit is being developed—specifically designed for the 2026 Monaco Energy Boat Challenge. The project combines a clear focus on efficiency, lightweight construction, and sustainability with technical feasibility in production.
The high-performance cockpit structure stands out thanks to innovative design approaches that enable exceptional weight reduction while maintaining high structural integrity. The use of state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies not only saves material but also makes a forward-looking contribution to the sustainable production of structures in the maritime sector.
Particular emphasis is placed on the cockpit’s ergonomics and optimal accessibility of all controls. The layout of the steering and control systems has been specifically tailored and optimized to meet the needs of pilots in racing conditions. Intuitive operation, short reaction times, and a comfortable seating position and posture contribute significantly to safety and performance — especially under dynamic racing conditions.
At the same time, a holistic design concept is being developed for the catamaran’s visual design, one that optimally combines functionality and brand impact.
WannSea is an interdisciplinary team dedicated to developing a zero-emission, energy-efficient racing boat. They will compete with their prototype in the 2026 Monaco Energy Boat Challenge — an international competition that serves as a platform for sustainable innovation in maritime mobility.
