D-Line
R3
Product design, architecture
In the modular kit of the Doppelmayr D-Line ropeway system, which was almost entirely designed by MOJA Design, the R3 station cladding is the smallest and most minimal of three variants for covering the station technology. The kit allows stations to be equipped with one of the three system claddings depending on the installation, meeting different requirements. In contrast to the two other system claddings, MOJA Design reduced the volume of this cladding to a technical-functional minimum. The station thus becomes a large-scale machine housing. It is designed less as a classic building than as a technical product in which form, function, and accessibility work closely together.
Despite the small housing volume, the station achieves a high level of ease of maintenance and functionality. The hinged doors, equipped with pressure cylinders, give maintenance staff optimal access to the technology inside. The clearly defined joint and edge pattern and the precise workmanship also create a well-proportioned structure and a timeless architectural volume.
The design was developed in close collaboration with the manufacturer and reviewed in coordination meetings and during walk-throughs of prototypes, so that the cladding was optimally prepared for series production.
The R3 station cladding can be used for both chairlifts as well as gondola lifts and is ideal for installations where a low-profile, compact station is desired. The R3 station cladding was first installed at the base station of the Zwölferhorn cable car in St. Gilgen, Austria.
